Celebrate Cinco De Mayo The Right Way!

With Cinco de Mayo just around the corner, it’s time to start thinking of the ingredients to a memorable festivity. There’s no better way, or liquor to celebrate with than tequila. Tequila is a smooth liquor derived from the Agave plant that adds a texture of earthiness to its palette of bold flavors, and serves as a great base in many alcoholic beverages.

H2: Stay Cool

Cilantro coolers are a great alternative to the traditional margaritas and sangrias. With its light and refreshing base, it is a drink that can be enjoyed before or after your favorite meal. Some drinks are very syrupy and contain a lot of sugar, which can make one feel full and even ruin ones appetite. This is why these are great for starters, allowing you to still indulge in your favorites like tacos, taquitos, and tamales!

H2: Ingredients

½ cup of chopped cucumber
5 cilantro leaves
Ice
2 ounces vodka
¾ ounce of fresh lime juice
¾ ounce simply syrup
1 ounce chilled club soda

First, add your chopped cucumbers and cilantro into your cocktail shaker.
Next, mash these ingredients up at the bottom of the shaker.
Next, add your vodka, lime juice, and syrup into the shaker with crushed ice.
Finally, shake up the ingredients and pour over ice with chilled club soda.

H2: An American classic with a Mexican flair.

The Bloody Mary is a famous beverage enjoyed by millions. Typically made with a base of vodka, this is a refreshing, savory, and spicy beverage. How can you spice it up even more? Simple. Add tequila. Substituting tequila for vodka is a great alternative that can add an even broader palette of flavors to this drink, introducing the Bloody “Maria.” This is a great way to add a Spanish flair to this traditional beverage that is sure to be a hit at your Cinco de Drinko festivities.

H2: Ingredients

1 Lemon wedge
1 Lime wedge
2 oz. Don Julio Reposado Tequila
4 oz. Tomato Juice
2 dashes of Tabasco sauce
2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce
1 pinch celery salt
1 pinch of ground black pepper

First, squeeze the lemon and lime wedges into your cocktail shaker.
Next, add your favorite tequila and your desired amount along with tomato juice and your sauces.
Next, add your desired amount of pepper and salt, then shake.
Finally, pour over ice and garnish with your favorite toppings!

The Spanish Staple

The Margarita is one of the most famous alcoholic beverages around. Known for its sweet and sour flavors, it is one of the most refreshing and favored beverages by many and is sure to be a favorite at your party.

Ingredients

2/3 cup fresh lime juice

Enjoy Refreshing Wine Smoothies This Summer!

A New Way To Enjoy Wine This Summer

Summer is just around the corner, and that means many of us will be looking for new ways to chill out under the hot sun over the next few months. That's where we come in - for this blog, we're going to show you an awesome new drink that'll keep you cool all summer long. It's a snap to make, and the best part? Wine is the first ingredient!

Wine Smoothie

Yes, you read that right. We'll be making a wine smoothie. Can you think of anything more wonderful? We think not.

To start off, you'll need a glass of your favorite white or pink wine. Although we haven't actually tried it, a red is likely to be a little too overpowering in this case. A moscato would work nicely. Next up, you'll need frozen berries or fruit - you can either freeze what you have or get a medley bag of frozen fruit from your local grocery store, either work. You'll want a ratio of about a one-pound bag of frozen fruit combined with 1 3/4-2 cups of wine. Making it couldn't be easier - combine your fruit and your wine in a blender, and blend until smooth! If your blender has trouble with the smoothie and gets stuck, turn it off, use a fork to stir the liquid a bit, add a little more wine, and continue on. It couldn't be easier!

Make Your Own Old Fashioned

 Our Favorite Bourbon Cocktail

Here at Winefolder, few things make us happier than the sight of an amber-hewed bottle of straight bourbon. The craftsmanship that goes into it, the years of aging, and that delicious, smoky flavor all make us feel like sitting down in a big armchair with a fire going and a good book. Some purists may believe that it's a waste to mix bourbon with anything, and we while understand that point, the reality is there are many bourbon cocktails that serve to enhance, rather than muddle, the flavor of the spirit. In fact, this is why cask-strength bourbon is becoming so popular - it allows you to mix more into the drink while still retaining a strong flavor. For this blog, we're going to show you our favorite way to craft a delicious concoction from this golden liquor.

The Old Fashioned

This drink has been around the block quite a few times. You may have heard it's name over and over, but that's for a good reason - it works. An old fashioned makes a tasty drink and really allows the base flavor of the alcohol to come through, which makes it one of our favorites. For this drink, it's best to keep things simple - here's what you'll need:

·       2 oz of your favorite regular or cask strength bourbon
·       1/2-1 tsp of turbinado simple syrup (we'll explain that momentarily)
·       1 or 2 dashes of angora bitters
·       1 strip of orange peel
·       1 strip of lemon peel

First, you'll need to make the simple syrup. This is - not surprisingly - simple. Just combine equal parts water and turbinado sugar in a saucepan, bring to a boil, and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. You'll know it's done when the water is no longer cloudy. Add the simple syrup, the bitters, and the whiskey into a shaker, shake, pour over ice, and garnish with the fruit peels. Viola - you have a delicious drink that will complement, without masking, your bourbon.

It’s that time of the year again where you shop until you drop to fill your children’s Easter baskets to the brim with tasty chocolate treats. We also know that your kids aren’t the only ones enjoying that Easter candy so we came up with some lovely pairings for you to enjoy any left over chocolate eggs. Don’t worry we didn’t discriminate, just sit back and relax and find out how to pair dark, white and milk chocolate eggs with the perfect wine.

Canyon Road Cabernet Sauvignon & Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate is a showstopper. It has a strong cocoa background and less cream making the flavor dark and intense. There is one match that can keep with their flavor, Cabernet Sauvignon. They compliment each other very well.

Copperidge Merlot & Milk Chocolate

Milk chocolate works great with dark and light red wine. Milk chocolate is typically half cream and half cocoa making them a great match to accentuate the flavors of Merlot. They are very happy together.

Bolla Riesling & White Chocolate

White chocolate is made from cocoa fat which makes it a versatile pairing for wine. Because of this versatility, the Riesling selection tends to be more attracted to it than the red wines. They make a great couple.
