10 Things You May Not Know About Whisky!

While it is in our name, here at WineFolder we offer much more than just wine to meet all of our customers’ alcohol preferences. From Crown Royal Canadian Whisky to Johnnie Walker Scotch Blue Label, we have a fantastic premium whisky selection at unbeatable prices. Our online liquor store is filled to the brim with just the kind you are searching for, and we want to make sure that the next time you talk about the whisky you purchased from us, you sound like you have been enjoying it for years. Here are some facts about whisky to impress anyone at your next dinner party or barbeque.

1.     You may have noticed that whisky can be spelled one of two ways. “Whisky” is used to describe whisky from Scotland and Canada, and “whiskey” is used everywhere else.
2.     A whisky’s color comes directly from the wooden cask that it is stored in. Originally clear, the color develops over time through the aging process. The cask also affects the whisky’s flavor.
3.     There are over five thousand types of whisky in the world today. So many flavors, so little time!
4.     The oldest whisky ever is a bottle of Glenavon Special Liqueur Whiskey, according to Guinness World Records. It was bottled sometime between 1851 and 1858!
5.     There are five regional whiskies: Scotch whisky, Canadian whisky, Irish whiskey, Tennessee whiskey, and Kentucky bourbon.
6.     Ninety percent of single malt whisky comes directly from Scotland.
7.     Whisky means “water of life” in Gaelic. Drink to your health!
8.     Whisky production is an eco-friendly process. Distilleries offload their corn and grain pulp excess to dairy farms for livestock feed.
9.     Although we doubt you will wait this long to find out, a bottle of opened whisky can stay good for up to five years.
10.  The most expensive bottle of whisky ever sold was a Macallan “M” whisky that went for $628,205 at an auction in Hong Kong!

If you would like to order some of our wonderful whiskies, or any of our other alcoholic goods, please feel free to use our search box to find exactly what you are looking for or enter a product number directly. We pride ourselves on making the purchasing process as easy and user-friendly as possible for your convenience. Cheers!
